The boys and girls of our church will be attending summer camp again this year. Last year our members helped tremendously with the cost. Please search your heart and donate to the outreach so our children may continue to learn of the Lord's salvation and grace.

(The following operating procedure will help to ensure that the church's facilities are maintained in good condition)

  1. Any group planning a program should ensure there is not conflict by checking the calendar in the secretary's office. The head of the kitchen committee should also be made aware of any plans.

  2. All groups using the kitchen as asked to clean it and leave all surfaces free of food stuffs and other items. this procedure must be followed to insure that the kitchen is kept in a safe, sanitary and full operating condition.

  3. Use of the dishwasher and/or other equipment must be under supervision of the person who is in charge. Only church members are permitted to operate any of the equipment.

  4. Children should not be in the kitchen without adult supervision.

  5. The kitchen door is to be kept locked when not being used.

  6. The group leader is asked to be responsible for seeing to it that  the kitchen door and serving windows are locked when leaving.

  7. Tables and chairs are not for loan or rental.

  8. Supplies used during a program should be put away or thrown away in order to keep the building clutter free.

  9. Food is permitted in Spriggs Hall only and not to be consumed in any other area of the Church. (Sunday School, Nursery, etc. are exempt from this policy)

MOTHER'S DAY

Don't forget Mother's Day is on May 14th. The men will be cooking breakfast and everyone is invited to attend. Breakfast will be served during the Sunday School hour. If you are interested in helping, please let George Cooper know. The children have a wonderful surprise planned to honor their mothers. Hope to see you there!

Sunday School News

The Sunday School has been studying the Journey to the Cross for the past several weeks. The children learned what Jesus' life was like as a young boy. They made prayer shawls and tablets as well as learning what the Jerusalem Temple was like when Jesus worshipped there during Passover. They are learning about the events of Holy Week through cooking, science, storytelling, art, and games. They have made hot cross buns, learned about chromatography and made tableaus representing different scenes of the last week before Jesus' crucifixion. If you know a child who doesn't attend any Sunday School, please invite them to come.

LOOKING AHEAD

June 11th - Come have lunch with us at Belleplain State Forest following the Morning Worship Service. There will be boating, hiking, swimming, and just lounging around. Bring your own lunch and drinks. This is a time for fun and fellowship as a church family before the hectic summer beings.

July 16th - 20th - Vacation Bible School is in the works again this year. Volunteers are being sought. If you can help in any way, please let George Cooper know. This is always a fun week for both the children and the adults. A barbeque in the parking lot is also planned again this year. Hot dog donations are welcome so stock up when you see them on sale!

August 27th - The Annual Cape Island Baptist Church Picnic at Belleplain State Forest will be held following Morning Worship Service. Hot dogs, hamburgers and sodas will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. There will be games, swimming, boating and many other events planned for this day. We always have such a great time together so plan to join us and bring the whole family.
