Policy and Procedures for use of the Church Building and Facilities

(The following operating procedure will help to ensure that the church's facilities are maintained in good condition)

  1. Any group planning a program should ensure there is not conflict by checking the calendar in the secretary's office. The head of the kitchen committee should also be made aware of any plans.

  2. All groups using the kitchen as asked to clean it and leave all surfaces free of food stuffs and other items. this procedure must be followed to insure that the kitchen is kept in a safe, sanitary and full operating condition.

  3. Use of the dishwasher and/or other equipment must be under supervision of the person who is in charge. Only church members are permitted to operate any of the equipment.

  4. Children should not be in the kitchen without adult supervision.

  5. The kitchen door is to be kept locked when not being used.

  6. The group leader is asked to be responsible for seeing to it that  the kitchen door and serving windows are locked when leaving.

  7. Tables and chairs are not for loan or rental.

  8. Supplies used during a program should be put away or thrown away in order to keep the building clutter free.

  9. Food is permitted in Spriggs Hall only and not to be consumed in any other area of the Church. (Sunday School, Nursery, etc. are exempt from this policy)

Parents are asked to see to it that their children clean up toys, papers, etc. after special events (The downstairs nursery area is a problem!)

A WORD OF THANKS

We would like to extend a long overdue word of thanks to Carol Boyd and her merry band of kitchen volunteers Carol spends many hours of her time making sure the kitchen is kept in good condition and well stocked with supplies. She also presides over the cooking during most of the functions in our church making sure that enough food is purchased and prepared to serve everyone. She then stays until long after everybody else has left to make sure that everything is cleaned up and put away. She often returns the next day to check up on what was done. In the midst of all this work, she reaches out to those who just need some advice or somebody to talk to (we all know the best way to reach a Baptist is through their stomach). She does all of this as a service to her church family and to give glory to our Lord. We appreciate her and those who help her. So next time you are at a church dinner stop in and  see Carol, let her know how much you appreciate her work and lend her a hand if she needs one.

PASSOVER SEDER

Don't forget to make your reservation for the Passover Seder to be held on Maundy Thursday. It is important that you let us know you are coming so that enough food can be prepared. Please either call or e-mail Laurie Thomas. If you want to e-mail her, just click on her name and she'll get it. Thanks.

Bakeless Bake Sale

A bit of news I have today

A Bakeless Bake Sale is on the way!

On these busy days, would you want to bake

Pies or cookies or even a cake?

You'd be surprised if you counted the cost

Of materials, heat and time that is lost.

Baking for sale is extra work

Yet we know nobody wishes to shirk.

So we thought of a plan that's truly grand

And we feel quite sure you'll understand.

In this little envelope please put the price

Of a pie or cake or something that's nice.

Without a fuss you've done your part.

I'm sure you'll give with a willing heart.

You don't even need to add a stamp

And your gift helps send a child to camp!

It's almost time for our children to be going back to camp. Each summer our congregations helps families send their children to Camp Lebanon for a week of fun and spiritual fellowship. If you are able to contribute to the BAKELESS BAKE SALE, please do so and give a child an experience they will never forget. Thanks.

Sunday School News

The children of the Sunday School began a new study on Jesus In the Temple. This is a very exciting unit. They are currently building a scale model of the Temple in Jerusalem. They prepared some of the foods eaten during Passover and studied the meaning of each food. If you are interested in helping with any of the Sunday School classes, (even if your don't want to teach) please see Sharon Spriggs. Volunteers are also needed to help with Children's Church during the Sunday Worship Service.
